Interview with LOCAL12 – March 2, 2023

Taking credit for someone else’s work isn’t a new concept, but it is a problem a Northern Kentucky man and his business partner are hoping to solve.

Websites like ChatGPT and Writesonic allow students to type in a topic and instantly get a paper written by artificial intelligence. All you have to do is type in a command like, “Write a paper about Shakespeare,” and in an instant, you have a finished product.

In hopes of answering a frequently asked question by educators — “Did my student really do this work?” — Barry Burkett and his partner, Wasi Khan, came up with the solution, Auth+.

"Auth+ is a program that checks authorship and authentication by asking a series of questions to the student once the work is submitted, such as asking which sentence is from the paper, or a fill-in-the-blank question using words from the paper.."
